SHOPPING DAY AT THE

SOUTH JORDAN GORDMANS

Jordan Education Foundation together with Gordmans and South Jordan Chamber of Commerce invite you to help us provide Christmas for a few children in our community.  Needy children in Jordan School District will be invited to shop at Gordmans from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on December 20, 2014 together with the child's parent or guardian, a policeman or fire fighter and many of our community leaders.

JEF will donate $2000.00 and members of the South Jordan Chamber of Commerce along with friends and family of Gordmans management have raised an additional $1600.00. We still need your help and issue the challenge to raise enough money to give up to $100 per child to shop.

Our Challenge

Child poverty and hunger are reaching alarming levels in Utah.  In our communities, 26% of Jordan School District students are on free or reduced lunch - a measurement of students identified as being at or below poverty line standards.  Currently, there are 13,336 economically disadvantaged students and 1,525 who qualify as being homeless in our school district.  Tragically, many of these students are also not eating well at home on weekends. They should be eating seven meals between Friday lunch and Monday breakfast, but they don't.  When they don't eat, they cannot perform in the classroom, play or exercise.
